Broadband strengthens online presence
"Our business is thriving now and broadband has really made the difference."
Andrew Ryan, founder, Clonanav Fly Fishing.
Clonanav Fly Fishing is based close to the Nire Valley in Clonmel, Co Waterford. The business provides guided fly fishing trips and courses as well as all the equipment necessary for the avid fly fisher. The company has had a website since its launch in 2003; however, since Clonanav Fly Fishing signed up for eircom broadband at the end of 2007, the site, and the firm’s online business, has gone from strength to strength.
Fishing upstream with broadband
When it launched five years ago Clonanav Fly Fishing initially had a dial-up connection, moving to an ISDN line shortly afterwards. Although founder Andrew Ryan recognised the advantage of having an online presence, with dial-up updating the website was a very slow and time-consuming process because Andrew had to drive to the nearest town to access a Wi-Fi connection there.
Now, with broadband, the site can be updated anytime and Andrew can add as many images as he likes. Importantly for the company, this means that Clonanav Fly Fishing can always offer the most up-to-date information to its customers, many of which travel from overseas to take part in one of Clonanav’s fly fishing courses or trips.
